Biography

Bob Orwig is the owner of a small business, Focal Point Video Production, creating TV commercials, marketing videos, and website videos. Formerly, Bob spent 9 years as a Senior Advertising Executive with Time Warner Cable, serving businesses from Marinette through the Green Bay area.

In helping local businesses with their advertising, and now with my own small business, I have become intimately involved in the challenges facing local companies here in NE Wisconsin.

As a father to 2 children still in local schools, I see the issues that under funding are bringing to our once proud public school system. This is why I want to be our representative to the Assembly. I believe a strong school system is the foundation of our communities. Wisconsin's fine reputation for education is what drew my family to Peshtigo 12 years ago. It is what will help bring new business and jobs to our area, and it will allow our children and grandchildren to prosper and continue the legacy that has made Wisconsin great.

I want to represent the 89th District so we have an advocate in Madison who is not beholden to the insurance industry and special interests. We need to change how we are funding education in our rural communities that are experiencing declining enrollment. I want to find ways to bring home 21st century jobs, new energy jobs that will take advantage of our manufacturing heritage and infrastructure. I want to lead the way to respectfully develop our outstanding tourism potential, to take advantage of all our resources.

Bob Orwig received his AA degree at Saddleback College, and studied at Cal State Long Beach in California. Bob is an accomplished musician, singer songwriter, as well as an avid outdoorsman who enjoys backpacking in the wilderness and trout fishing. Bob put himself through college working in the restaurant business, reaching the position of Head Chef.  Bob lives in the Township of Peshtigo with his wife Carol, a nurse practitioner at Peshtigo Family Practice, and 2 sons: Bobby, a Peshtigo High graduate who attends UW Marinette, and Douglas, who is a junior at Peshtigo High. Bob is a former member of the board of directors for the Marinette Chamber of Commerce, and the former Chairman of the Tourism committee of the Marinette and Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce.
